Tips for Safe Summer Travel

How to Stay Healthy and Compliant

The Latest With COVID-19

As more and more Americans become vaccinated against COVID-19 and infection rates drop across the country, travel is feeling a lot safer than it did in 2020. Still, it's wise to be fully prepared; we urge all travelers to consider the recommendations below.

Get the COVID-19 Vaccine.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that travelers be fully vaccinated*. People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine or a vaccine authorized for emergency use by the World Health Organization can travel safely within the United States.

You do NOT need to get tested or self-quarantine if you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three months. You should still follow all other travel recommendations as outlined by the CDC.

TrustCare offers the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at all of our Alabama clinics via a scheduled appointment.

*People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

Not Vaccinated? Get Tested for COVID-19.

Per the CDC, if you are not fully vaccinated and must travel domestically, you should get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip. In addition, get a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.

  • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
  • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
  • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.

Get an Annual Wellness Exam.

A wellness exam or checkup is essentially a preemptive medical examination that focuses on maintaining health and heading off health problems before they can even occur. These preventative exams are designed so that a doctor can evaluate overall health and wellness while determining any potential issues that might occur for a particular patient.

If, like most people, you haven’t been to a doctor for a while, it might be an ideal time to finally get a health checkup. At TrustCare, we understand all too well how difficult the past year has been. If you would like to get an exam, you may schedule an appointment by calling your desired urgent care clinic, or simply walk-in for a wellness exam. In most cases, you’ll be able to get in and out in around an hour. (If you decide to walk-in, we recommend coming between the hours of 8-11am; and, for more accurate lab results, be sure to withhold food and fluids after midnight prior to your exam.)
